Pals4Me Safety Guide
Effective Date: September 28, 2026
Pals4Me helps people meet in the real world.
Meeting someone new always requires personal judgment. No app can eliminate every risk, so use common sense and make decisions that feel right to you.
Meet in Public
For first meetups, choose a public location where other people are around.
Examples include:
- coffee shops;
- restaurants;
- parks;
- recreation centers;
- gyms;
- sports facilities; and
- other established public venues.
Avoid meeting at a private home for a first meetup.
Tell Someone Where You're Going
Consider telling a friend or family member:
- where you are going;
- who you are meeting;
- when you expect to return; and
- how to reach you.
For first-time meetups, keeping someone informed is a good precaution.
Control Your Transportation
Whenever practical, arrange your own transportation to and from the meetup.
Avoid becoming dependent on someone you have just met for your only way home.
Protect Personal Information
You do not need to immediately share private information such as:
- your home address;
- work address;
- financial information;
- passwords;
- identification documents; or
- other sensitive personal information.
Take time to establish trust.
Trust Your Judgment
You can leave a meetup at any time.
You do not need anyone's permission or approval to leave.
If something feels wrong, uncomfortable, unsafe, or significantly different from what you expected, prioritize your safety.
Alcohol and Substances
If alcohol is involved, stay aware of your surroundings and judgment.
Do not pressure another person to drink or use substances.
Never leave a drink unattended with someone you do not trust.
Do not drive while impaired.
Money
Be cautious if another user asks for:
- money;
- gift cards;
- financial information;
- cryptocurrency;
- investments;
- loans; or
- emergency payments.
You are never required to pay another Pals4Me user in order to maintain a match or friendship.
Activity Safety
Use appropriate judgment for physical activities.
Follow venue rules and use proper equipment where appropriate.
Consider your own health, experience, physical ability, weather conditions, and environment before participating.
Pals4Me does not supervise meetups or certify that another participant is qualified to lead an activity.
Identity and Background Checks
Unless Pals4Me explicitly indicates otherwise for a particular feature, you should not assume that another user has completed:
- government-ID verification;
- a criminal background check;
- employment verification;
- professional certification; or
- any other independent verification process.
Treat online profiles as information provided through the service, not as guarantees.
Block or Report Someone
If someone behaves inappropriately, you can use Pals4Me's block or report features.
Blocking is appropriate even if conduct does not rise to the level of a formal safety violation.
You do not need to continue interacting with someone simply because Pals4Me matched you.
Behavior expectations are described in the Pals4Me Community Guidelines.
Emergencies
Pals4Me is not an emergency-response service.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
In the United States, call 911 for an emergency.
A Pals4Me report can help us review an account, but it should not replace contacting emergency services when immediate help is needed.
After a Meetup
If something concerning happened during a meetup, consider submitting a report through Pals4Me.
Providing relevant context can help us evaluate the account and determine whether action is appropriate.
Beta Reminder
Pals4Me may still be in beta.
Some features may change, malfunction, or be temporarily unavailable.
Do not rely on Pals4Me for emergency communication, personal security monitoring, or other safety-critical services.
